Seeking God’s Direction for How to Deal with Divorce?
Divorce floods our lives with the need to cope with many changes. It can be overwhelming. Even if you’re not a praying person normally you may find yourself driven to seek God’s guidance on things that you just don’t know how to handle yourself. Prayer is a powerful thing.
God, do I do this or that?
I know that some times when I get hung up in looking for an answer I realize that in my prayer of “do I do this, or do I do that” I end up giving God limited options. Do you?
God’s possibilities are much bigger than that.
Divorce can leave you very intense. Often, the best option is to take a deep breath and seek to become closer to God. Once you seek God with all your heart, your heart is soothed and your faith grows. Growing closer to God can help you to ride out the wait time until His direction for your life becomes clear.
So, here are questions for you:
- Are you in some way attempting to direct God through your prayers based on your limited human understanding?
- Are you focusing your mind on asking God to guide you based on His unlimited possibilities?
- Are you willing to draw closer to God to build your faith and spirit while you wait for God’s direction?
Yes, ask God for help, but know that His vision for your life is far bigger and greater than your own.
Be open to his limitless possibilities. Be comforted by his presence. Be still and know that He is God.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…. Ephesians 3:20 NIV
