Conquer Discouragement
Divorce and its spin-offs are fraught with difficult challenges and discouraging situations. You know what I mean if you’re dealing with divorce. What you might not know is that there is reason to have hope.
- Yes, there is hope.
- Yes, there are ways to build your courage.
- Discouragement doesn’t have to be a permanent state.
In addition to becoming intentional about healing from divorce, and in addition to the daily life strategies I cover in this blog, here are a few critical things you need to know…
You Can Build Your Courage through Faith
When you feel weak…you can find strength in God,
But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.” (Psalm 59:16 NIV)
When you want to cry…you can cry out to Jesus,
“Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart have multiplied; free me from my anguish.” (Psalm 25:16-17 NIV)
When distrust seeps in…you can trust the Lord,
The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust him.” (Nahum 1:7 NIV)
When you are lonely…you can rest in the arms of the Holy Spirit,
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28 NIV)
When you are sinking…you can reach out and God will take your right hand and lift you,
Yet, I still belong to you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. (Psalm 73:23-24 NLT)
When you feel worthless…you can know the Father values you, indeed Jesus died for you,
I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” (John 12:46 NIV)
When hope fades…you can know that God has a future and a plan for good for you,
‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
God can heal your chaos, loss, and hurt. He can even use it for good,
Be still and know that I am God….” (Psalm 46:10 NIV)
God is with you. He will see you through all of life’s travails. Seek him, trust him, and rest in him.
