Moving from Acceptance to Renewal

He waited seven more days and again sent
out the dove from the ark. When the dove returned

Noah had lived through the flood. The waters were receding and he now had the hope of a new beginning. You too have the hope of a new beginning as you work through the issues of your divorce and look to the future. With faith and work, you can successfully mend the wounds of divorce; redefine yourself as a single person; and move forward to a place of peace, joy, and fulfillment.

Gaining insight into the impact of divorce can help you to understand yourself better. Prayerfully working through relevant questions can help you make personal moves toward renewal. Implementing strategies for renewing your life can help you continue to progress toward a healthier and more fulfilled existence. Combine all of this with knowing that God loves you and has a plan for your life, and the results can be amazing. After all, God can “do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,” (Ephesians 3:20).

How Long Will it Take to Get Over Divorce?
Time heals all wounds–or does it? Not really. The mere passage of time does not heal hurts. Becoming renewed after divorce is a gradual growth process. No one can predict with certainty how long each individual’s healing and renewal will take.

Recovering from separation and divorce is a decision, a process, and a journey of faith. The exact process and specific goals along the way depend on your unique situation. Finding renewal after divorce entails making choices to adapt positively to the realities of your divorce, finding empowerment to heal, and actively pursuing a positive new direction. This means making decisions to work through your divorce until it no longer pushes your buttons.

No Magic Formula
