One New Year’s Resolution to Keep
Forget all those New Year’s resolutions that you’ll never keep. Save all your focus for the big one. You’re worth it you know.
This resolution has huge pay-offs. It’s the heart of a better year so make it your priority. “What?” you say. Here it is…
Resolve to keep divorce from killing your spirit this year.
There it is, big as day—a resolution worth keeping. A life-giving resolution. A resolution for your life today and every day. A resolution that takes intention but that reaps a pot of emotional gold.
But how?
Protect Your Spirit
Become committed to the vitality of your spirit. Have confidence in yourself. Refuse the tendency to wallow in self-pity. Learn to avoid or deflect hurtful comments from your ex. Know your rights and set boundaries.
Free Your Spirit
Turn your attention from the past and look toward the future. Work through and get rid of self-doubt, anger, guilt, fear, or any other thoughts and emotions that sabotage your ability to heal from divorce. Get help to process this if needed.
Forgive. That’s huge. (For a better understanding of forgiveness, click Here.)
Enrich Your Spirit
Grow spiritually by studying the word of God and networking with others in a Christian community. Develop personal interests that you neglected when you were married. Count your blessings and thank God for them. Invest in yourself. Read resources that support healing from divorce and moving on with your life. Set goals. Pray.
When the situations of your divorce or its spin-off throw arrows your way get real and find solutions. You can do it.
If you let divorce kill your spirit then you lose everyday—over and over. Don’t give that much power to your divorce. Thrive despite divorce.
You are special, you are capable, and God loves you. Choose thoughts that support your ability to flourish. Squash those thoughts that bring you down.
Don’t let divorce kill your spirit.
Post that in your car and around your house as a reminder. Write it on your bathroom mirror. “Don’t let divorce kill my spirit.”
Protect your spirit. Free your spirit. Enrich your spirit. Trust that God has your back all the way.
You’re worth it you know.
